Our Culture

Notably, their culture remains deeply rooted in family values, a commitment mirrored by their employees who consistently embody these principles in their everyday work, emphasizing The Maschhoffs' culture.

Gina Bennett

Total Rewards Manager

“The opportunities are limitless for growth if you aren’t afraid to look and to ask for exposure.”

MORE FROM GINA

Gina has been with The Maschhoffs for 10 years. In her time with TML, she has worked in Supply Chain and in HR. Currently, she is the Total Rewards Manager where she manages our Leaves of Absence, Worker’s Compensation, Benefits, and Compensation, and oversees HRIS.

Since joining the HR team, Gina has played a crucial role in advancing The Maschhoffs’ benefit offerings in several exciting ways. Notable achievements include integrating Livongo into the medical benefits to aid employees managing diabetes and high blood pressure, introducing affordable loans with credit-building opportunities through Kashable, implementing a parental leave policy, and supplying employees with prescription safety glasses. These initiatives collectively contribute to the overarching objective of promoting comprehensive wellness within the workforce.

I’ve been really lucky to have strong leaders who gave me the opportunity to learn and grow in different areas of the business and personally, as well, reflects Gina.  She has been able to sit in on business update meetings and gain a better understanding of the company, where we stand in the industry, and business in general, simply by showing interest in observing the meeting. “I’ve knocked on doors and asked for time with leaders so I could learn about their areas and find ways to provide value to their employees. The opportunities are limitless for growth if you aren’t afraid to look and to ask for exposure.”

Gina shares the excitement in seeing our company’s culture grow and change over the last several years. The focus on a culture of caring really invigorated her in terms of her role with benefits and changed the way she thought about the benefits offered and what to look for in new offerings. “Our focus on relationships and service really brought into focus the idea that we can and should support our people as more than just employees – but in their whole lives. It’s really driven a lot of the alternative benefits we explore and are implementing.”

Caleb Shull

Director of Research and Development

“The company’s dedication to both personal and leadership development has kept Caleb engaged and motivated to contribute to its success.”

MORE FROM CALEB

Caleb began his journey with The Maschhoffs as a graduate student in 2007 and transitioned to full-time employment in 2013. He started as an Associate Director of Research and Development and has since served as the Director of Research and Development for several years.

Being selected for the Targeted Development program has further solidified The Maschhoffs’ commitment to Caleb’s professional growth. “They took a chance on a very naïve college student 17 years ago and have supported me every step of the way,” Caleb reflects. The company’s dedication to both personal and leadership development has kept Caleb engaged and motivated to contribute to its success.

For someone passionate about innovation and personal growth, working at The Maschhoffs has been an excellent fit for Caleb. The company has given him the autonomy to make decisions while also challenging him to embrace discomfort and grow. Caleb’s advice to new employees is to ask their leaders for opportunities that push the boundaries of their comfort zones, as that is where true growth happens. He also emphasizes that The Maschhoffs is full of great people willing to help, if you just ask.

Over the years, the company culture has evolved alongside its growth. Consistent values remain hard work, doing the right thing, and continuously striving for improvement. Caleb notes the significant progress in building a culture of care and fostering strong relationships both at work and at home.

Liliana Cruz Segundo

Team Lead – Production

“It doesn’t matter who you are—after spending time with Liliana, you walk away asking yourself, Am I doing enough? How can I do better?.”

MORE FROM LILIANA

Each year, The Maschhoffs recognizes one exceptional team member whose daily
dedication to outstanding animal care, peer support, and personal growth sets the bar for
excellence. Liliana Cruz Segundo, a valued member of the Holbrook team in our
Nebraska Pod, was the 2025 Steve Quick Animal Care Excellence (ACE)
Award winner.

Liliana joined The Maschhoffs in January 2021 and has made a lasting impression in a short
time. As a Farrowing Day 1 Team Lead, she’s known for her tireless commitment to animal
welfare—never leaving the farm if a sow needs help, walking problem animals, and doing
everything she can to ensure piglets thrive. She leads by example, is one of the first to arrive
and last to leave, and brings a calm, dependable presence to the barn.

Liliana also shines in her leadership and development of others. She trains new Animal Care
Givers side by side, engages them with patience and positivity, and continuously seeks to
grow herself through programs like Grow & Lead and English language classes. She even
incorporated communication techniques from her training into how she coaches others—
fostering learning through questions, dialogue, and collaboration.

When asked to describe Liliana, words like dependable, steady, humble, adaptable, and
always in a good mood were shared. A teammate summed it up perfectly: It doesn’t matter
who you are—after spending time with Liliana, you walk away asking yourself, Am I doing
enough? How can I do better?

Alan Lennon

Senior Production Manager

“Being encouraged to develop our team into strong leaders is one of the biggest reasons I’m here. Recognition might seem like a small thing—but to me, it’s one of the most meaningful parts of working for a company like this.”

MORE FROM ALAN

Alan has been with The Maschhoffs for 3 years, serving as a Senior Production Manager. Throughout his time here, he’s experienced many rewarding moments, but what stands out most is the opportunity to help develop future leaders. Supporting others in discovering their potential and advancing their careers is what brings Alan the greatest fulfillment.

Working at The Maschhoffs has allowed Alan to fully leverage his background and skill set, while also expanding his perspective—especially in a system where the packer is the customer, compared to the vertically integrated model he experienced in the past.

His advice to fellow team members? Don’t shy away from opportunities that come with extra responsibility. You may discover a role that fits you even better than your current one—and you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the efforts of those around you.

Alan feels a strong alignment between his personal values and the culture at The Maschhoffs: treat people with respect, help them succeed, and always strive to do the right thing. “Being encouraged to develop our team into strong leaders is one of the biggest reasons I’m here. Recognition might seem like a small thing—but to me, it’s one of the most meaningful parts of working for a company like this.”
